Common Issues with Circuit Breaker Locks
Circuit breaker locks are widely used safety devices, but many users lock them and forget about them afterward. As a result, various issues can arise during their use. Here’s a look at some of the most common problems:
-
Lock beam doesn’t move
The main reason for this issue is usually a large geometric tolerance in the lock beam. To fix it, insert the key into the lock, turn it to the open position, and lightly tap the lock with a small hammer. -
Lock cylinder won’t turn
When the lock isn’t used for a long time, friction can build up, and both the lock and the key can rust. You can resolve this by applying a small amount of diesel or gasoline to the lock. -
Key gets stuck
If the key is stuck at the base, you can use tweezers or similar tools to pull it out. If the lock cylinder breaks in the middle, you’ll need to remove the 7-hole seal from the lock, take it out, reinstall it, and then seal it with aluminum wire. -
Key plug breaks off
Over time, you should sprinkle graphite powder into the keyhole, and regular use of pencil lead is a good alternative. Avoid pouring lubricating oil inside.
